2008 Goals

2008 is right around the corner and what a year 2007 was. There were so many personal things that I did in 2007 that I am proud of, I mean the list goes on. I went from being a normal NPC bodybuilder to one of the Top Ammature National Level Bodybuilders by winning the Mets and Jr USA's then shortly after taking 2nd at the Nationals. The great new people and friends I met this year just goes on I wouldn't have enough space on here to list everyone that helped me and that I met this year. You all know who you are and THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART.
This was the last weekend of 2007 and wasn't the greatest one for me. Being a bodybuilder and trying to have a relationship can sometimes be a difficult task at hand. When you diet, they diet, when you complain, they hear it, when your not home with your significant other, they are home waiting for you, when they want to go out to eat, you try to be nice by explaining why you can't "eat that", when they want to go out for a few drinks, your drinks are diet coke, when they try to be nice, you snap for no reason...and the list goes on and on. I am not going to go into the details of why I am talking about relationships and bodybuilding, but for those of you whom are bodybuilders remember one thing, bodybuilding doesn't last forever, but your relationships can. You have to be willing to give things up, suck it up, go out, be calm in tough situations, and make sure when you diet it's not a one way street. That are some of the lessons I learned the past 2 years in my relationship that is no longer. Had to get that off my chest.
As for 2008 there are many things I wish to accomplish (in no particular order)
1. Be a better friend, son, brother, and boyfriend
2. Go to church more
3. Realize that there are others around whom are affected by my choices and actions
4. Win the 2008 Nationals
5. Become a paid sponsored athlete
6. After winning the Nationals take 2 years off to rest
7. Save money for a house
8. Get a better job
9. Bring up my weak points on my body
10. Be a go getter-trian harder than I ever had and be a better bodybuilder and all around person

I think everyone should have their own list of things they want to do and/or change in 2008. Being goal oriented is a good way to set dreams and work to accomplish them. Enjoy the last day of 2007 and God Bless in 2008

Christmas Eve Treats

Holidays are always a time to relax, reflect, and be grateful. Christmas time for most is a time for sharing and spending quality time with family and friends. Being a full blooded Italian and coming from an all Italian family, the holidays for us means Mangia, Mangia, and boy do we Mangia in my family. The typical Christmas Eve for my family means going to my Aunt Lauri's house where the food is always great and the Italian heritage is flowing. The appetizers are the normal anti pasto, with all the Italian breads, cheese's, and meats. Along with that there is fish, shrimp cocktail, and crab dip (which by the way is off the hook.) Then, after that we go to the main course which is chicken (Marsala, Franchisee, or whatever kind gets cooked up), fried calamari, homemade meat balls, and of course pasta. The final course is where you have to be careful, that's the desserts, which are array of Italian pastries, cookies, and cakes. What I try to do is eat a little of all the appetizers, and hold off until dinner. Once dinner comes I eat a good amount of protein with minimal carbs to fill myself up and kill the cravings of all the desserts that follow. Of course, I have dessert I take a little taste of everything just to get my pallet wet. Although I'm 5'6 I have a HUGE appetite, I can slam down the food with no problem.
Tonight I ate pretty well, but just enough, I didn't go over board with eating. I ate enough for a cheat meal, which I am allowed 2 times a week, but 3 hours later after I got home from midnight mass, I was still able to eat my last 2 meals with a pretty good appetite. Got to give a shout out to my Aunt Laurie and Uncle Bill, there house is always the best of Christmas eve, we have a great time and the food there is phenomenal.
On a not so good holiday note, as you all know I have been having some major shoulder issues in my right shoulder since before my shows this year, but managed to battle through it. I got a x-ray and mri done in mid September showing a few things wrong in my shoulder. I have an anterior-exterior lebrehm tear, a sist formed due to the tear, and an impingement in my shoulder as well. I spoke with Dave the other day, and we both decided that getting my shoulder scoped now would benefit me more than if I waited. This injury is hurting my workouts especially my shoulder and chest workouts. Tonight I talked to my aunt whom is a Nurse Practitioner which means she does it all, from heart surgeries to orthopedic surgeries etc. She scheduled my surgery for next Friday since she will be the one doing the surgery on me, so I told her she better make sure she fixes me and my recovery time better be short....(Just kidding Aunt Laur, you're the best.) So I will keep you all posted on what is going on and how everything goes. Until tomorrow, go put the cookies out for Santa....Have a Hardcore Holiday (complements of EC)

BALLS TO THE WALL 2008

WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN. Well, after talking with Dave yesterday, as you all know, he wants me to have a great off season and not to worry about the scale, so starting tomorrow, I will be going BALLS TO THE WALL. My goal this off season which I have not talked about before is to gain a good amount of muscle. With that, I want to redistribute that muscle in some areas on my body. I need more caps on my delts, bigger outer sweep, wider and thicker back, and want to bring up my calves and my arms. I guess you could say overall body structure. My focus is going to be more volume and more isolation movements to concentrate on bringing the blood to that muscle. With my intense workouts, the products by Species, and the help from good friend and nutritionist Dave Palumbo, I can't wait to see what my physique looks like when I step on stage in 2008 at Atlanta. My off season diet consists of a TON of food. I am eating 8 times a day, out of those 8 meals only 3 are shakes two of them with Carbolyze. The other 5 are food meals (2 egg meals, 1 chicken, 2 red meat) which I love since I am full most of the day, therefore the need to eat crap is never there since I am full. I am allowed 2-3 cheat meals per week, but I am more of a clean eater so I keep it to once a week on Sunday night, while I am watching my Giants on TV. My ideal cheat meal is 7 rolls of sushi and a pint of Ben and Jerry's ice cream. I will defiantly be posting a decent amount of off season pics, so stay tuned as the road to the 2008 Nationals begins tomorrow.....Get it Done!

SPECIES AND OFF SEASON UPDATE

For all you hard core bodybuilders out there, SPECIES is expanding it's line more and more every day. Today was the new release of FIBERLYZE, AND CARBOLYZE, and I can't even begin to tell you what's next, you'll have to wait and see. FIBERLYZE is a fiber replacement supplement but unlike the usual Metamucil that you see in stores FIBERLYZE has insoluble and soluble fiber in it, giving you 9 grams of fiber per scoop. Also, it is sugar free, fat free and has no aspartame in it. The flavors currently out are fruit punch and lemonade, I tried both of them today, and wow, this is going to be something to look forward to when dieting next year for Nationals. CARBOLYZE is a carbohydrate reloading replacement drink which is used in the off season(for obvious reasons). Taken twice a day pre and post workout this blend of waxy maize starch and d-Ribose, with that it gives you 39 grams of carbs per scoop with 0.5 grams of sugar, making it optimal for energy, recovery, and muscle growth. The flavors currently out are banana and fruit punch. The great thing about the SPECIES line of products is that it explains what all the key ingredients do on the label, for example: "d-Ribose, is a naturally occurring 5-pentose carbohydrate molecule that's found in all living cells and that helps facilitate the production of ATP (the primary energy source for all cellular processes. In studies of healthy athletes, as well as those who have suffered injury to the heart muscle, supplying fatigued muscle cells with d-ribsoe quickly restored ATP to normal functioning levels." This supplement is going to be a key ingredient for myself in the off season. I have never used a waxy maize before, I am going to start CARBOLYZE on Monday, so be sure to check my blog for updates on the effects of it.
As for my off season thus far. I took a trip to Long Island today with my buddy Dominick, and posing coach and good friend Kenny (who is starting dieting on Monday for the Mets and Masters Nationals) to go visit Dave and Colette and prior to that get a workout in at Bev and Steve's gym in Syosset. After getting a sick arm workout in, we headed off to Dave and Colette's for awhile. It's always a fun time and a learning experience there, not only are they two great people, both very knowledgeable in many areas, so every time you leave, you have learned something new. Dave talked to me about off season goals, which are to have a normal off season and don't limit my muscle growth to make a middle weight next year. Bodybuilding is about building muscle so that's what I am aiming for ultimately this year, and we'll take the necessary steps to make sure I get to 176 1/4 for the 2008 Nationals. We also tasted tested a new product that's not out, and all I have to say is WOW, shit was amazing can't wait to talk about it when it comes out. Before we left, Dave and myself went over about 150 shots that were taken by Bill Comstock for Species that he is going to use in adds and posters. The pictures were taken exactly one week before the Nationals, and they look phenomenal. So that's a ton on today's agenda, I will keep posting, just keep reading and sending me the emails, love getting them everyday, keeps me busy. Talk to you all soon. Stay safe and keep GROWING!!!

You Know Your a Bodybuilder When.....

So today I woke up did the normal routine in the morning, got ready for work, cooked breakfast, and prepared my meals for the day, then it was off to work. Except something was different today, the weather, when the weather gets cold, and snow starts to arrive in the winter season it always sucks for those days we have to make the drive to the gym then home. I went to work, but not for long, left after about 3 hours because right around 10 o'clock it started to come down, but it wasn't snow it was dam ice pellets. So I left around 1 o'clock and went home. I then ate meal # 2 let it digest, then off to the gym in the ice storm. I love this type of weather, only because it divides the people who are dedicated to those who only go when they want to go. I'm not saying that you need to drive in a tornado to the gym, bad weather YES! If you drive slow and controlled it might take you a little longer to get there and back, but you will make it there and be able to get a workout in. I got to the gym at 3:30pm and not to my surprise there was no one there, I love working out like that, empty ass gym. No waiting, no one bothering you, it's like you own the gym, do what you want at your own pace. Bodybuilding isn't a once in awhile thing, it's an all the time thing. No matter what the day brings, good weather, bad weather, fighting with the girl friend, not feeling well, didn't get enough sleep, IT DOESN'T MATTER! You still have to eat, train, and make improvements everyday. Everyday, every 24 hours is 24 hours for you to make improvements in your life and with your body. I love this sport because not everyone can do what we do, the training, the dieting, the cardio, eating right, not going out partying, staying home, going to family parties with your own food, it's part of life. I have given up a lot for this sport, friends, time, money, relationships, etc. Those that stick with me through it all are the true warriors, because what we put the others around us through when we diet for a show and what we do every day on a daily basis isn't any more easier for those around us. There's a reason why there's no "I" in team, because bodybuilding isn't a team sport, it's a selfish, greedy sport, and it's hard to understand unless you go through it. So for those of you who didn't go to the gym today, THANKS, you made our lives that much easier. And for those of you sticking behind and supporting your bodybuilders (women, men, fitness, and figure), I say God Bless and thanks for the support....Had to go off on this tangent today, sorry, the weather brings this out in me..Till next time..EVERY DAY IS A NEW DAY, MAKE IT WORTH IT.

FUN ASS WEEKEND

Well first things first...I want to give a huge shout out to THE MONTANARI BROTHERS AND KENNY WALLACH FOR BEING THE NEW CHAIRMEN OF CT...CONGRATS GUYS!!! That's going to be huge for the sport of bodybuilding. Bodybuilding needs more guys like that in the sport giving back, can't wait to see what shows those guys put together.
What a weekend I had talk about doing a lot in a little time. Saturday morning I took a trip down to Workout World and trained arms with my part time training partner Dom, and new IFBB PRO Carlo Filiopone who owns Carlo's Cafe inside the gym. After getting a sick arm workout with my boys, it was off to the Cafe. Carlo threw on his cooking gear and it was all business for an hour, he was behind the counter cooking up a ton of food for us. Within less than an hour he had cooked up chicken breasts, veggies, potatoes, chicken sausage, and rice with lentils, talk about a phenomenal meal, he is one hell of cook...THANKS CARLO, I made a promise to Carlo that I will be at his gym at least once a week to train and eat...SEE YOU THIS WEEKEND BRO.
Also, Sunday I meet up with Evan at Physical Synergy owned by Dr. Mike, where I started getting more therapy (ART-Active Release Therapy), on my shoulder. I stopped going there the last few weeks because Dr. Mike does such a great job on my shoulder and therapy and brings so much blood to the surface that it was making a little swollen so I had to stop going to keep the cuts showing and deep on my physique. My shoulder started acting up a bit since I put weight on and was able to go a little heavier and already after one day of therapy by Dr. Mike I felt great. If anyone has any sort of muscle aches, pains, back problems etc., look up Physical Synergy in Fair Field CT, he is one of the best around. For those who were wondering Evan is look big and hard weighing a little over 260 with straited glutes and striations every where I can't wait to see him in 09 at the NY Pro, going to be a battle.
Off to the gym to hit up Chest, hopefully the shoulder stays in place and I can crank out some good weight...Stay focused everyone!

I'M BACK BABY

Well I'm back....Today was a test of how my strength is after a long 16 weeks of dieting, and I got to say that it's back and better than ever. Today is Tuesday, which means for me BIG LEG DAY. I treat every body part the same, but any body builder knows that leg day always has a different aura that is involved in it. You have to really mentally prepare yourself for the torture of battling through legs, so I'm going to tell you all what kicked my ass today and stopping me from walking normal, due to the fact that I murdered them in the gym. This is what it was.
Warm up-2 sets extensions
Squats- 3 sets 405 X 10, 1 set 315 X 12
Leg Presses- 1st set 8 plates X 15
2nd set 10 plates X 12
3rd set 12 plates X 10
4th set 14 plates X 10
Leg Extensions- 4 sets with, 100, 110, 120, 140 all sets where 12-15 reps each
DB Lunges-2 sets with 40lb Dumbbells (done walking not in place)

After this I was shot, my legs were so pumped and full it wasn't even funny, I haven't gotten a pump like that in awhile. Usually when I am taking in carbs I get good pumps, but sometimes they are so bad they hurt, especially in my lower back, that's why I when I diet I have great workouts running just on ketones, the pumps don't last as long but they are intense when I'm in the gym and I never get the bad pains in my back and pumps that hinder my workout. But my strength is threw the roof, and I feel great. Still rebounding a little bit since the show, the worst part it my feet, they're not swollen, but they hurt ALL DAY LONG, I believe it's from putting weight on fast, being flat footed and trying to carry around extra weight my body hasn't seen in awhile. Over all feeling great and can't wait to start packing on the pounds for 2008. I'll keep you all posted on my progress, keep checking in and any questions keep the emails coming I love talking with you guys and meeting new people...God Bless and Stay Strong

Getting Back Into It!!

Well, today is Sunday, day of rest, and dam sure need it. Got back into the swing of things this week. Started back at the gym on Monday and went through my normal workout routines as I usually do, except due to being out of the gym for two weeks I kept the weight reasonable and the volume a little lower. Although, I went a little easy on myself this week, I was sore as shit every day as if I never worked out before, that's what happens after a show. After all the dieting, cardio, brutal workouts your body needs time to recover. Going into Nationals my last day of working out was Tuesday the 13th, last day of cardio was the 14th, the show was on 16th and 17th, then I took off the following week to recuperate. I feel pretty good I have to say still holding onto some water weight, my weight is still below 200 I have been floating around 193-195 in the mornings, which is good usually I put weight on really fast, this time around I was smart and didn't go nuts with binging after my show. I have truly only cheated twice since the show. The Monday after my show I went out and got sushi, then after that it was Thanksgiving, since then been eating my off season regimen, which consists of 8 meals a day, so the cravings aren't there when your full most of the day. One thing I am still struggling on is my sleep pattern sucks, I wake up almost EVERY 2 hours every night, talk about annoying. Other than that I can't wait for this week when I can start back into my normal warrior intensity in the gym and start bulking up. Hope everyone had a great Holiday, and I will keep everyone posted on my training this week. Remember any questions or comments, feel free to comment or email me at Gcis40@hotmail.com , Time to Get After It.....God Bless

2nd Place 2007 NATIONALS

WELL, it's all over for 2007. Started with a win at the Metropolitan's in NY on April 14th followed by a win two weeks later in SC for the JR USA's, after only a month and a half off of dieting I aimed for the Nationals where I placed 2nd to Jose Raymond this past weekend. Got to give it to Jose for his frame of 5'3 he had a solid package with good conditioning, congratulations Jose you looked great. As for myself, I was very happy with my placings, I mean at the time, who couldn't be upset one placing away from turning Pro at Nationals with my good friend Evan, that would have been a dream, but this year wasn't meant to be. I came in with my best package I have ever had, 3 lbs lighter than I was my last two shows, my cuts and separations were deeper, without losing any size or shape. Got to give it to BIG DAVE, he brings me in better and better every show, can't wait to see what 2008 brings for the Nationals in Atlanta GA.
As for the Nationals, I had a great time, exhausted but a great time. I stayed in the Fairmont with Evan and we just relaxed the entire time, never saw out the window, for three days just slept, ate, tanned, and competed. That's what we were there for. You go to these shows to do your best, and you see all these other guys running around doing stupid shit when all they should be doing is resting, makes you think what it is they want, a career or attention. I arrived on Wednesday night, got in late to the hotel ate and passed out. Thursday was a day of tanning, talking with Dave and 7:30pm wiegh-in's where I weighed in at 173.2. The next morning after water depleting I was 170 shredded to the bones after only 2 meals of carbs. Friday was prejudging at 5:30pm, where I was in bed until almost 7pm before I got on stage just in time to get oiled up and a quick pump before getting on stage. After quarter turns they brought us all out, and I got called 1st call out after Jose. After we went through out mandatories they brought the top 3 back on stage for one more comparison round where we all went at it head to head once more. I knew Jose had me in size, but in my opinion I had in on shape and conditioning. After I got off stage it was on to route for my boy Evan whom they didn't even compare anyone too, I mean how could you, he stood head to toe, bigger, drier, and harder, than any other guy in his class, hands down the overall winner. After that it was all about the Hooters hamburgers and fries. Saturday came, and went, tanned and ate during the day, the night show ran slow as shit in the beginning bringing the fitness in between the men's night show, but before I knew it my routine was 90 there and gone. I was standing on stage with 4 other men not knowing what the out come was going to be. I heard 5th, 4th, and 3rd place called but didn't hear 173 which was my number, then......I heard "and runner up" number..173, and I knew it just wasn't my time yet. Hit a few poses for the camera, rubbed the tan off and went back to the seats with my friends and family to give Evan my support, which he didn't need due to his physique spoke for itself. After Evan won the overall with a superb routine, I got very sick, there was a bug going around I found out the next morning I was up all night with an upset stomach, and puked my brains out around 6am. Not a fun way to start an off season. Finally, made it home after a lot of muffins and toast all day because my stomach couldn't handle anything, and feeling better and heavier today. Now taking a week off before starting my off season for the 2008 Nationals!!
Want to give a big shout out to those that came to support me, my Mom and Brother..aka ANTsistant (he was Evan and mine slave for 3 days), also Leah, her Aunt Mary, Kelly, Uncle Tom, Mike, and Will, for showing up at the airport and letting us use the microwave and driving us around the weekend, don't know what I would have done without you guys there. PJ, for just being PJ, kid is just out of control, all you can do is laugh, he's my boy and shout out to his Mom for the Godiva's..already GONE!!! Gold's Gym NH crew, you're all great, and Kenny my posing coach, thanks for everything bro. Also huge THANKS to Evan, this was a weekend I will never forget and couldn't have done it without you bro, can't wait to see you kick some ass at the NY Pro in 08. Also Special thanks to DAVE PALUMBO AND SPECIES NUTRITION, words not needed physique has spoken.......Stay big

DAVE PALUMBO, EVAN CENTOPANI, & PJ BRAUN THANKS GUYS!!!

These three individuals have been a huge help to me the past 16 weeks of my training. Lets start with PJ. I met PJ over 4 years ago when I was in college, everyone knew I was a bodybuilder and always told me I had to meet this huge kid named PJ. Awhile went by and one night I headed to Benagan's to grab some food and PJ was bouncing at the door, that night I didn't make it to my table. I sat there for hours talking to PJ about training, dieting, and competing, and from there we became training partners. Through the years of training with PJ we both learned a lot from each other from bodybuilding, and more so friendship, PJ and I have had our fall outs, which we laugh about to this day. Since then PJ moved in with his girlfriend whom I love Nicole in CT, where she competes in Figure and took 3rd at the Jr USA's as her second show after winning the overall at the Atlantic States the prior year. PJ has been like a brother to me I became close with him and his family. If there's ever a problem PJ is always there to help and give advice, I can thank him enough for all that he has done for me, Thanks bro you mean more to me than you'll ever know..

Now for Evan. This is pretty funny, I worked at GNC throughout college to make it buy, and worked with a buddy of mine named Andy, who also knew PJ. He would always tell me you have to meet my buddy Evan who lives in Trumbull CT, he is the biggest guy I know. I told him no way is this kid bigger than PJ, at that time PJ was the biggest armature I knew. After college I got transferred to Trumbull as a manager for GNC and met Evan at World's Gym. The day I met him was only a few days after he won his first show at the Atlantic States, I was like HOLY SHIT!! This kid is unreal, I met him along with Ron Rich who is an outstanding bodybuilder as well. Me and Evan hit it off from the start. Evan would always stop into GNC and bull shit with me and we would catch up on workouts a few times a week. Since I met Evan a lot has changed, he's another one, whom I went from not knowing to becoming best friends with. After I won my class and was National Qualified in the Gold's Classic after some help with PJ with my contest prep, Evan told me he had been working with Dave Palumbo for the JR Nationals and Nationals and I should hook up with him. I was skeptical at the time because I had got dropped from my last nutritionist who was an asshole, and I wasn't a big name in the sport so what would Dave want with me. But I followed his advice and did. Evan you have been there a lot for me the past 3 years I can't thank you enough for all the time and dedication you put into helping me prepare for the Mets, Jr USA's, and now well be going together to the Nationals, a time to remember...LOVE YA BRO

NOW MR. JUMBO PALUMBO...I talked to Dave for the first time in the end of December, great, open, down to earth guy, he told me take a few pics and send them to him and well go from there. So the next day went to my girlfriends house snapped some shots sent them to Dave, received an email back asap. He said I had ridiculous legs and a great physique, I was shocked because my old nutrition didn't think I had shit to work with. After going back and forth via e-mail I finally took a trip to see Dave, we sat down went over my contest prep and got started, it wasn't easy. I was used to dieting the "old school" way carbs, low fats, high protein, cardio here and there, not with Daves' Methodology it was 16 weeks of no carbs, cardio, high fats, and a CHEAT MEAL....I thought a CHEAT MEAL..AWESOME. Well it's awesome alright until he pulls that away, along with your fats and your eating just protein. But who can complain, after winning two shows under Dave, being sponsored by Species, and gaining a great FRIENDSHIP with him and his fiance Colette, I couldn't be more happier...Thank you Dave for all your hard work and dedication you put into me and you have inspired me to become so much more than a bodybuilder, you are a great person and I can't thank you enough for all your help, your more than a nutritionist your a great Friend!!!
Thanks you guys, Love everyone of you

IN THE TRENCHES GUY AND EVAN!!!

WELL WELL, WHAT A SIGH OF RELIEF!!! Today was my last day of work until I get back from Nationals and it was also my last leg workout. I don't know what's worse doing legs or doing legs then doing my second session of 75 minutes of cardio afterwards when my legs are feeling like J-E-L-L-O. But got to give it to Dave and Species Nutrition along with his advice and taking LIPOYZE, SOMALYZE, AND ISOLYZE, I am already at my competiton weight. This morning I was 176.5 lbs, right where I need to be for weigh-ins. The good thing about this is that last time the day before both shows I was 178 so my carb up wasn't that good, Dave wants me to be a little lighter so I can get a full day of carbing up to look full and hard on stage which I have NO doubts about. Eveyone keeps asking me how do I think I will do, my answer is always the same, I want to look the best I have ever looked before, and where ever I place I place. Who ever looks good on that day deserves to win, so hopefully all the hard work, and dedication I put in this year will pay off. This Thursday and Friday I will be shooting IN THE TRENCHES WITH EVAN CENTOPANI AT BEVS GYM IN SYOSSET NY. It will be up on MD I am sure before the Nationals, it will be a good time, the last one I did was three days after the JR. USA's with Nick Zack who won the Super Heavy wieght class at the Mets and the Arnold, so this will be a good experience. Evan and I train together at least once a week in Gold's New Haven so our training styles are similar and we will have fun with it even though were both close to death..hahaha, but I will keep you all posted on how it goes and when it's up and running on MD. Until then GOOD LUCK AND STAY STRONG

2 WEEKS OUT..LEANER BY THE DAY

Whats up everyone been a long week, today was my first day of fats in 6 days so that's why I haven't typed anything. It's hard enough to go through the day, doing this wouldn't help nor would it make any sense I would be all over the place with my typo's. Well this week surprising went fast, had awesome workouts which I can't believe since I am eating just protein. Also Saturday my buddy Dominick and myself went up to Gold's New Haven, home of the Montanari Bros, and my posing coach Kenny Wallach. We got in a sick arm workout and I had a great posing session with Kenny, we got a lot accomplished in the hour we had together. Also did some of my workout with Evan who looks unbeatable, he is just a sick individual, his legs came up 100% from last year, his is striated from head to toe, no one is going to touch him at Nationals that's my prediction! GO GET EM EVAN, LETS BRING THOSE PRO CARDS HOME KID. Also, last night I went to the East Coast show held in Totowa NJ, which is 10 minutes from my house. I went there to see Dave so he could evaluate me and see if there was changes to be made. He thought I am where I am supposed to be at this point, so things stayed. Only one week left of cardio and working out can't complain about that! IT'S CRUNCH TIME NOW BABY!!!!!!

So this morning I woke up at 179, and looked very good, I am my own worst critic so I still think I need work, but last shows I weighed 178 the day before the show so I am defiantly on point. My goal in every show is to come in better than I did at my last show, where I place after that is where I place, I can only come in at my top conditioning, which I plan to do, and with that God willing my pro card. Until next time everyone. GET BIG!

3 WEEKS OUT...GETTING TOUGH

SO....its 3 weeks away the biggest show of my life thus far, and man am I feeling it. I was looking through my diet log for the Mets and the Jr. USA's, 3 weeks out from the mets I was 190 lbs, currently 3 weeks out from the Nationals I am 182 lbs. I am looking a lot better than I did for my last shows but as always my body gets very stubborn due to the fact that my body does not want to be this weight (as Palumbo would say) so this is the point where I start to get tortured. Dave made some changes in my diet today, if you kept track of my blogs the past few weeks, two weeks ago he cut my cheat meal and I was doing 2 days without fats, 2 days with. The following week he changed it to 3 days no fats, 1 day with. Now, today he changed it to 6 days not fats, 1 day with fats (That day is like a cheat meal to me). Along with that I am also training 5 days a week and doing 2 1/2 hours of cardio a day, 75 minutes in the morning on an empty stomach and 75 minutes post workout. The diet I can deal with its the boring cardio that I have to do, there's nothing fun about that crap. But hopefully I will be in shape early so I can get a good carb up for the show and be the biggest and most ripped in my class. But 3 weeks until show time, and only 2 weeks left of cardio and training so just got to keep the warrior mentality and keep getting after it.

On a better note, this past Saturday I was at the Gold's Classic in Jackson NJ, where Calro Filopone and myself where the guest posers. I had a good time there, their were 80 competitors because that show is a National Qualifier so a lot of competitors are trying to get qualified for Nationals in November. That's the original show I got Nationally qualified at back in 2005. My routine was good except I put on an oil before I went onto stage which I never do and the stuff was horrible I couldn't grip any part of my body for any lat spread poses so it threw a monkey wrench in my routine but all in all it was fun Karen and Mike Stienfield ran a very well organized show. Thanks for having me guys, greatly appreciated.

Also, today I had a photo shoot at strong and shapely gym with my good friend/photographer Tony Monchinski, who is a great guy. He has his own column in Muscle Mag which focus's on a lot for East coast bodybuilders. He shot 8 bodybuilder total including myself. So keep an eye out after Nationals for my write up in his column...Thanks Tony for all your help the past year. Tony is the man, he shot all my Amazing Amateurs videos for MD, and I had a full page article that he put in Muscle Mag which I received a lot of emails and complements on. He's a great guy, and a huge impact in the East Coast regime.

Until next time Stay Focused and Keep after your Dreams, you only live ONCE, make it well worth it....

The Two Families That Have Been Here For It All

This blog is for the two families that mean more to me than anything that I haven't mentioned throughout my website being up. And if it weren't for them I don't know how I would have done it all.
My family, mom, dad, Lisa, and Anthony. You guys are my life. You guys have put up with more shit of mine (well until this show because I just got my apartment), than anyone else. My mother who for some reason I fine a reason to yell at about everything, but she's the one always checking up on me to make sure Palumbo is killing me. My father for giving me the tools I have to become the dedicated person I am, and who can forget, the one who is always calling me letting me know whats on sale at the super markets and pick it up for me so I can have food on stock at all times. My sister, well my sister and my brother are like my two best friends, my sister would just be there for me, she would always want to do things to get my mind off dieting, shes the best sister God could have given me. As for Anthony, this kid is something else. When I was home, dieting for the Mets and the Jr USA's, he was like a slave for me, anything I needed he would do, go up the stairs to get this and that, drive here to pick this up for me, and the biggest pain in the ass thing, he put over 10 coats of protan on me for each show, and I know how much he enjoyed that. My family is my saving grace when I diet, when things are going bad and times are getting tough, they are always there to push me through it and keep me level headed. I love all of you to death, you guys are the best family that a son/brother could have asked for, thanks for all your support and I love you all!!!!

As for my "Second Family," Mrs. B., Leah, and her brother Peter. I started dating Leah in March of 2005, and she had no clue what she was getting herself into..lol...We were together for two years. Leah has been a big savior for me, she's not the biggest fan of bodybuilding, but the biggest supporter that I have. She has been there wen I won the Golds Classic in 05, she's been there in 07 when I won the Mets and the Jr USA's and she told me she wanted to come to Dallas because in her eyes she's been through it all and wanted to be there for in her words the "grand finale." Leah and her family have been a huge part of my life for almost 3 years, I met her right before I graduated college and after I graduated I stayed in Connecticut to be close to her, they live in Westchester NY, so I was only 20 minutes from her. Her family was like my family away from home, I was there every night with or without Leah being home having home made meals with Mrs. B. and Peter (Mom is a great cook by the way.) Peter and I would relax and play x-box for hours on end. Peter would occasionally come along for a gym workout with me, when the time was there. Mr.s B. is a Elementary teacher, Leah works for a marketing company, and Peter is a Freshman football player in high school, who one day I can see playing pro ball. The kid is a monster. Big, tall, and strong as an ox, the kid is gonna turn heads when he gets older. You guys have been so much to me for the past 3 years and I hope you guys continue to be here for me for years to come. Thank you for all your help and support through the years, I love each and everyone of you guys.

***Sometimes in life we look past the most important things, and those are the things who made who we are today, sometimes, we all need to stop, take a step back, and look at the whole picture, and realize who we are and how we got to be where we are at...Thank you for showing me that today...You know who you are
until next time

BEVS POWERHOUSE GYM

Again, today, was another one of those traveling across the world days for me. I took a trip to see Palumbo to evaluate me since I am 4 weeks out as of today. Me and my training partner Dom went to Bevs gym in Syosset NY, which I workout at every time I am in the area. That gym is the mecca of gyms around. By mecca I say that because there are so many pictures and collages of old time and up and coming bodybuilders, along with fitness models, figure competitors, and athletes. I mean the gym just has an aura about it that when you walk in the only thing you want to do is throw around weight. I met Colette Nelson there (Dave Palumbos finace), and her, Dom, and myself all got a great arm workout in. Wanted to give a thanks to Steve and Bev, although they are usually not there on the weekends, the staff always welcomes me with open arms and that means a lot when your a bodybuilder trying to make a dream come true. So THANKS TO STEVE AND BEV AND POWER HOUSE GYM FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT!!!!!

So on a worse note, my diet, and cardio changed as of today. I saw Dave, he said he thinks I am right where I need to be, but wants me to come down lower than I was for the Mets and Jr USA's so I can get a better carb up. For the next 4 weeks I am doing 3 days of just protein, NO FATS OR CARBS, 1 day of Protein and Fats, but here's the worst part my cardio is up to 2 1/2 hours a day, which sucks when you work over 40 hours a week and try to keep a level head. But this is why its bodybuilding, you have to build your body to the best it can be, that's why there's only few who can do what I/We do. Until later on, Stay Strong All, because God knows I have to right now...lol

Bob Bonhams Stong and Shapely Gym

I finally took up Bob Bonhams offer, he emailed me a few weeks ago and told me he would like if I came to his gym and trained, he said he would set me up with a membership and I could train and change my atmosphere since I am dieting for Nationals. Any bodybuilder knows training at the same place all the time can get to be an annoyance at some points unless your at the hard core gyms like Strong and Shapely, Diamond, Bev's, or Golds New Haven. So I took Bob up on his offer and went over to his gym in East Rutherford today, which shockingly is only 25 minutes from my house if that. So my cousin Dave and I headed over there around 1:00pm, and started our workout Bis and Tris today. I have worked out at Bobs gym before but hadn't been there for at least 2 years, so I had to get my senses of where everything was, once I did, it was GO TIME! Dave and I blasted out 12 sets of hard core bis and tris, my arms were jacked up, sometimes I am amazed how I get such sick pumps on no carbs and my body just running on ketones, but in all honestly I have gotten some of my best workouts and pumps on NO CARBS. My workout was great there I will be there a lot more now that Bob talked with me, each gym has different machines that targets the muscles differently so each workout you hit the muscle in a different way, which in my opinion is optimal for muscle growth.
I got into talking with Bob before I left, I have talked to him in the past but real quick, we talked for about an hour. We hit on every topic from girls, bodybuilding, gyms, training, the Olympia, he is a very down to earth, great guy, one who loves the sport of bodybuilding. You would think by his demeanor that he was a bodybuilder, but actually he has done everything but. He is a gym owner of one of the best gyms on the east coast, he was a promoter, judge, photographer, and a trainer. He is a well rounded individual and I Thank You Bob for all your support and appreciate what you have done for me....Thanks, until next time.
IF YOU PUT YOUR MIND TO IT, YOU CAN ACHIEVE IT!!!

PROPS TO JOHN KEEMPERS DIAMOND GYM

I had the opportunity to workout at John Keempers Diamond Gym in Maple wood NJ. Being a native of NJ I do not live far from his gym, and made the members there aware that I will be there more often now, since I have gotten a grand tour of the place. I went there because my good friend Evan Centopani was shooting with Universal Nutrition along with Frank Mc Grath and Erick Frankhouser. I showed up there today around 3:30pm with my posing coach Kenny Wallach who is a gym lover himself, loves to travel to all the well known and legendary gyms. We walked in and both said "Holy shit, this is awesome." I mean I have been to hard core gyms before, Strong and Shapely (which is where I am training tomorrow), my all time favorite gym Gold's New Haven, and know Diamond gym which is twenty minutes from my house. The gym is off Irvington road in Maple wood on a busy road, and if you were driving by you might miss it, but if you were strolling by, you would know where the gym is, with the music blaring and the doors open, to the sound of dumbbells clanging, and grunts and groans it's hard to miss. The gym was wall to wall with old pictures of all the greats, along with pictures of the up and comings. Every single room had a different atmosphere. It was like a bodybuilding of Ronnie Coleman that you see, weights every where, the heaviest of all dumbbells stacked away in the corner only for the big men to use, machines that I'm sure some of the Old time greats used back in their day to build their top physiques, and the best part is everyone there...EVERY SINGLE PERSON was there for one reason. TO WORKOUT. Most gyms I go to you have your club goes with their hair all gelled, the ones who talk on the cell phones, the ones who read half of a newspaper in between sets, not hear. After a great shoulder, hamstring, and calf workout with Evan we finished up with some cardio, and headed down to make rounds saying good-bye. I was leaning over the counter talking to an employee Greg, and I looked down on the desk, they had TOP 10 HARD CORE GYMS, number 1. Diamond Gym, and ya know what who could argue. If you guys/girls ever around the area and want to get a feeling of how bodybuilding became and how working out was like, and still should be, take a trip to John's Gym, you can guarantee it won't be your last...
Also want to shout out to Erik Frankhouser, we got into talking a bit he's a great, stand up guy, and has one of the sickest wheels and calves I have ever seen. He's 27 years old with so much potential, he's already up to 250 from 202 since Aug 31st at the North Americans where he won his pro card. Good luck Erik you'll do damage in years to come.
So check out Diamond gym, I will be writing about Strong and Shapely tomorrow when I get back haven't been there in a few years so very pumped up to make an appearance there. Until tomorrow...Get it done

BIG PROPS TO DAVE PALUMBO AND SPECIES

Since I have been working with my nutritionist and good friend Dave Palumbo, I have been using his products since day one. I was always sceptical about all products I would always use them, and never feel any different taking any of them, aminos, nitrix oxide boosters, fat burners etc. But when I started on Dave's diet he told me he was coming out with a line called SPECIES. He suggested I try his Lipolyze (day time fat burner), Somalyze (night time fat burner and sleep aid), and his protein (Isolyze.) His lipolyze is a non stimulant fat burner with essential fatty acids in it that keeps my body burning fat all day long. Along with that his protein is a filtered whey protein, but unlike any others out there, you don't get that bloated gassy feeling you do with regular whey, it mixes in seconds and there's no chunks or bad taste. Actually its probably the best tasting protein on the market right now. Well you can't get it on the market yet, only on his site www.speciesnutrition.com . And the somalyze is a night time burning fat burner that has melatonin in it to help aid sleep, anyone who's a bodybuilder knows when your dieting it gets tough to sleep sometimes when your starving this helps me fall asleep and keeps me in a deep sleep all night. Dave does not pay me to write this and does not pay me for being a sponsored athlete, I get use of his products that's it, and when your using products that work, that is more than money can buy, and I think my conditioning at my last two shows proves what Dave's products are all about. Make sure you check them out at www.speciesnutrition.com and also check my profile there about my meals and my workout routines....Stay big, stay strong..

CONGRATS TO A NEW DADDY

GOT TO GIVE A BIG SHOUT OUT TO MY BOY CECIL AND HIS FIANCE LIZ WHO HAD THEIR FIRST CHILD TOGETHER TODAY, GRACE SNOWDEN...CONGRATS GUYS, CECIL LOVE YOU LIKE A BROTHER YOU'LL MAKE A PHENOMENAL FATHER...
My boy Cecil is a good friend of mine, we played football throughout college together and after that we moved in together along with another friend of our Mike Walker. Living with those guys was a great experience for two years, I got to know both of them on a totally different level than just the football player, meat heads in college. Cecil, Mike, and myself became like brothers, laughed, fought, made up, went out, worked at clubs together (Oh the stories from bouncing we could tell). But Cecil came from a tough background, lost both of his parents a a young age, and the type of person he became and morals he developed as a person are outstanding. He is a role model to myself, I ever wondered what would happen if I ever lost my parents how I could ever survive, but Cecil did, and you would not know that he ever had any tragedies like that by the type of person he is. Very caring, loving, and emotional person. Him and Mike were training partners of mine for awhile until we all parted our ways in March of 06 when we had to move on with our jobs and life. We all still keep in touch Cecil lives in CT with his fiance Liz and newly born Grace, and Mike lives in NJ close to me....Love both you guys and Cecil once again I love bro Congratulations
Uncle Guy...

Big Thanks

Got to give a big thanks for the promoters of the NPC Brooklyn show, Jay and Matt, for having me hear. And also for Arnold and Yvonne for inviting me to guest pose there...For all of you who haven't heard yet, I got stuck in a shit load of traffic, then the navigation system shit the bed, but I made it there with little time to spare. As soon as I got there, I got rushed right into the pump up room, threw on my trunks and my boy Dominick's girl friend Joanna threw tan on me, and I ran onto the stage. It was a good time the crowd was great and getting into my routine, which is always good when the you can please the crowd. I also had a chance to talk with Victor Martinez and Kai Greene, both very nice and stand up guys. It was an honor to be guest posing with some of the top dogs in the sport. Just wanted to give a big thanks to all who were there, and my buddy Rae Galan for being a very supportive friend, one of my favorite guys. Rae is going to turn a lot of heads next year as a light heavy weight, you all can put that in stone. Thanks to all again, there will be pics and video footage of the posing on my site in the gallery in a few days...thanks for all your support....Stay Big, God Bless

INSPIRATION

I have to say, yesterday at the gym, I just finished legs, I was beat 13 sets of hard core leg training and then I had to do cardio for 35 minutes. I was tired, sore, and just wanted to go to bed. I went on the treadmill, hit all the buttons to get started and began walking. As I was about 5 minutes into cardio a man came into the gym, who had no use of his legs, came in on his crutches and was doing chest and triceps. I was on the treadmill and watching this guy crank out chest and tris, and you would think he was a regular meat head until he got up and hobbled around the gym on his crutches. This was so inspiring to me, you know I was on the treadmill and thinking, "When we think things are bad, someone always has it worse." I am complaining about doing legs and cardio when this man probably would die to be able to walk on a treadmill and do 5 sets of heavy ass squats. I was on that treadmill thinking about all I do in a day, cardio in the morning, work for 9 hours, then workout for an hour, then more cardio, then bed.....all I do doesn't compare to what that man who doesn't have use of his legs has to do in a day. So just remember one thing to you all out there, live each day as if it's your last, you never know when your day will come when your needed upstairs. Be happy to wake up, be happy to work, just be happy for living your life and make full use of the cards you were dealt in life, because you never know when your hand will fold.....God Bless, stay big, stay strong.....

INSIDE 7

Today is 10/2, and I'm inside 7 weeks from the biggest show of my life. My weight stabilized this week at 189, but with the increase in the cardio, I'm sure the weight will start coming off. It gets tough with my body to strip the last 10-12 lbs off due to the fact that my body is not a middle weight, I should be a light heavy wieght according to my nutritionist Palumbo. I would be too small of a LH at only 180 or so lbs so he kills me with cardio and no fats for the last few weeks, it sucks worse than anything I have ever done but the ending results is what matters. Life isn't always easy, if it was we all would be making a ton of money, and drive nice cars, and have perfect bodies. But it's not it's the determination and heart that separates the winners from the losers. Those willing to do that extra rep, or wake up at 6am to do cardio, those willing to eat the right things and not cheat, its those people that will end up victorious. I had a friend ask me this week what my definition of success was I said happiness, she replied with I agree but its setting the goal and achieving it which will make that person happy and have a feeling of accomplishment. That's how I feel when I walk off every stage, I walk off winner or loser I know there is nothing more I could have done.
This time around is even harder, I am used to the no carb diet, but there's a good chance I might need shoulder surgery after the Nationals. My workouts have been awesome with regards to my shoulder workouts and chest. I have trouble doing any pressing movements, it kills me. I am naturally a very strong kid, a lot of people have told me pound for pound I am the strongest kid they have ever met. But just wanted to give all my friends and fans a up to date on whats going on....
BE SURE TO COME TO BROOKLYN THIS SAT THE 6TH WHERE I WILL BE GUEST POSING, ALONG WITH VICTOR MARTINEZ AND KAI GREEN....WILL BE A GREAT TIME...HOPE TO SEE ALL YOU THERE...GOD BLESS

Talk About A Sick Leg Workout

For those of you who send me emails and PM's through Muscular Development asking me what I do for my legs I have had two of the best leg workouts these past two weeks so I will give you the break down of the exercises with sets, and reps that I did. Last week I switched it up and did Squats last so my workout started like this
Warm up 2-3 sets leg extensions
Leg Presses 4 sets HEAVY any where from 12-8 reps
Smith Machine Squats with legs very far in front 4 sets HEAVY any where again from 12-8 reps
Leg extentions 4 sets-for these I go heavy but keep the reps higher around 15-10
Barbell Squats 3 sets only 225, each set until failure
Single leg extensions 2 sets, each set until failure

Now this week, this is the exact workout I did yesterday
Warm up 2-3 sets leg extensions
Barbell Squats-4 sets, the first 3 sets I go Heavy as shit 405, 455, 465-485 I don't do less than 8 reps on any of those sets, the last set I did was 225 until failure
Leg Presses-4 sets heavy as shit started with 8 plates then went up to 10, then 12 plates again 12-10 reps
Leg extensions-4 sets heavy but higher reps, but for the last set I do a drop set to really kill them.
DB lunges-then for a finisher I do 2 sets of lunges more for detail and to bring every thing out.

Let me know what you all think any questions keep them coming.....Stay Big

The half way marker 8 weeks left

Yesterday was the 8 week marker for me, half way there until I hit the stage at the 2007 Nationals....Looking great, I guest posed last night at the Perth Amboy BB and Figure Championshps, it was a well ran show by Rich Santiago, what a great, down to earth guy, the cause for the show was for drug and alcohol abuse..BIG PROPS TO RICH FOR HAVING ME THERE..Also had a chance to talk to IFBB pro Craig Richardson, who is one of the nicest, down to earth, well rounded bodybuilders I have ever met. We started talking and one thing led to another and we were talking about everything, training, working with big Palumbo, dieting, his and my plans for the future, hes a great guy. He told me he is planning on doing the Iron Man for his next show, and by the looks of the Atlantic City Pro hes going to be a Force....I am holding you to a few training sessions Craig, I'll defiantly be giving you a call to get some in before Nationals. Craig is a Jersey native like myself so we actually live pretty close to each other, so I will defiantly post on here when I train with him and what it was like. I also got invited yesterday at the Perth Amboy show to guest pose at the Brooklyn show in NY on Oct 6th which I accepted. Can't wait, I can never get enough of being on that stage whether its guest posing or competing, the rush is always sick.
Well to follow up this morning I was 188.4 I am just in striking distance of my contest weight, Dave made a few changes when I saw him on Friday night at his house, so hopefully my cheat meals can stay in a little longer this time around....that would be phenomenal. If you want to see updated pics be sure to check out my gallery with all current pics and videos...Until next time, Train Hard or Go Home

WOW CHEAT MEAL

After debating all day with my boy PJ, Dominick, and my cousin Dave, I decided to have an array of foods for my cheat meal tonight. For those of you that do not know Palumbos diet it consists of NO CARBS Monday through Sunday, but Sunday night you get one cheat meal. Basically you can eat whatever you want fro about an hour, to shock your bodies T4 production and keep it active. Well let me tell you what my meal was tonight: Went to Wendy's ordered 4 double bacon cheese burgers, 5 piece nugget, Mc chicken, small fry and a Mc flurry, and I also split a pizza pie with my boy Dom and my cousin Dave. At ALL the Wendy's as well as three slices of pizza, and I filled out ridiculous, I mean you always put on weight for a day or two after you cheat meal but Dam I looked Hard as nails and had veins every where. I also didn't feel like shit like I usually do after my cheat meals at the Cheese Cake Factory. Just wanted to give everyone the 411 on whats going on. I weighed this morning 190.2, so well see what my weight does this week. Hope I get in the high 180's so I don't have to die on the treadmill....hope you all had a better weekend then my Giants who got murdered by the Packers.....BE GOOD
GOD BLESS

9 Weeks and Counting

Well, well, well, what a ridiculous past two days...Yesterday missed the gym due to being in court for 3 1/2 hours do to great driving skills, and walked away with a seatbelt ticket for 108 bucks. I would have rathered payed more and made it to the gym, but now just have to work out on Sunday..GREEEAT...But it worked out ok gave my should a little rest, I have been having some shoulder problems with my right shoulder. I had a MRI done on it on Wed and got the results today nothing major some tendonitious, and slightly torn posterior and interior labrehm (spelling), but no biggie, I have been getting ART done on my shoulder by DR. MIKE who owns his own buinsess called Physical Synergy in Fairfield CT, I go there one a week for treatment, its an hour drive but he's the best around that I have found. He beats the shit out of me and when I leave I feel like he fixed my entire shoulder....THANKS MIKE, I APPRECIATE ALL YOUR HELP!!!! Today worked out in NEW HAVEN GOLDS GYM, where I always do on Fridays with my boy Evan. But before blasting back I pose with my posing coach for an hour to get my mandatories down pat. So after he blasts me for an hour, I then hit my workout with full force, which I did today...Any workout at GOLDS NH is a good one....Felt good, and was strong as shit today, and shoulder felt great...Down to 190, but sunday Ill probably 189 or lower seeing how my cardio was increased again. My glutes are already becoming striated....Can't wait to see what the total package brings in November..Hopefully one that wins me my Pro card...Guess we'll have to wait and see.....Gotta give a shout out to my Parents whose Anniversary is this sunday...Love you Guys....

10 WEEKS BABY

10 weeks out everyone, and looking harder and sharper than I was for the Mets and the Jr's. I am currently 192.0, and getting leaner by the day, the cardio is kicked in and its all coming together. I am sure that with the help of Dave, and my determination I will be in THE BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE at the Nationals. My diet has stayed the same, except for the fact that my cardio usually goes up every weeks (I think that's because Dave loves to torture his clients...). I am eating 6 times a day, 3 whole meals and 3 solid meals, at times I find myself getting hungry but other than that my mind is still going strong with exceptions to forgetting shit all day long. I just started training a few times a week with 3rd place JR USA middle weight Dominick Dichio who is also a newbie working with Dave, who in my opinion could do some damage next year. This is the first time in a few years since I had a training partner and the workouts are getting intense as the weeks go on. I train with Dominick Mon-Thur..and the weekends I hit it hard in New Haven CT with PJ Braun and Evan Centopani. Any questions post on my blog or shoot me an email..more to come, Stay Strong

11 Weeks and counting

11 weeks out and still going strong as usual. I am currently 193 lbs and getting tighter by the day. I had the chance this weekend to travel to Cleavland OH, for the North Americans to watch my boy PJ Braun who looked his personal best on stage despite his placings...GOOD JOB BRO. Right now after seeing some competition at the show I am amped to look my all-time best at this show. After meeting with Dave Palumbo my nutritionist and his fiance Colette, they think I am on point to be bigger and harder. I am training like an animal as I always do in Golds Totowa NJ, and on weekends I make my way to train at Golds New Haven, that my posing coach Kenny Wallach works out of. He helps Evan, PJ, and myself in all our posing and routines, hes one of a kind. Getting ready for this show is harder than before I feel a lot more pressure from the hype than anything. I always go into ALL my shows like I am in LAST place and have to work my way to FIRST.
This months issue of Muscle Mag included a page article on myself about my training and prep for the Mets and JR USA's both which I one, be sure to check it out. Until next month stay strong and train hard

13 weeks out

Just under 13 weeks out and feeling awesome. Weighed in at 196 on Sunday morning before my cheat meal, already getting detail in, especially in my lower back. Been doing a lot of traveling, to Golds New Haven Gym where I meet with my posing coach Kenny who works with Evan, PJ Braun, and myself. I also train there at least one or two days on the weekends with Evan, which is always a good change of pace since I train by myself every day. I also have made it a point to see Dave Palumbo more often so he can look at me a little closer, anything to come in that much tighter and harder for the Nationals. My training split I altered a little bit I put legs earlier on in the week so I don't have to do them on Sat like I was doing in the past. My current split looks like this:
Monday-Chest, abs
Tuesday-Quads
Wednesday-off
Thursday-Back, abs
Friday-Shoulders, Hamstrings
Saturday-Bis, Tris, Calves
Sunday-off
Haven't changed much diet wise still the same High fats and High Protein, NO CARBS. I as always will keep posting at least once a week and more once I get closer to my show.
Also as a reminder I am guest posing at the Perth Amboy BB and Figure Championship on Sep 22nd. If your around show up and show support for the show they are holding the event to benefit and support the efforts of the Perth Amboy Municipal Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse and the City f Perth Amboy, Office of Rec progams..see you all there

Two weeks into my diet and feeling pretty good, didn't have much of an off season, if I count 2 months as an off seaon. I am back to Palumbo's diet which consists of high protein and high fats, NO CARBS, but one cheat meal a week (which I look forward to). I dropped about 6 pounds thus far and need to drop plenty more as I plan to come into the Nationals a little bigger and harder then I did when I won the JR USA's in April. In the members section I will be posting current pics and video clips of me training. And I will post in the blog section at least a few times a week to keep everyone up dated on my training and dieting. Until then train hard and get big. Guy

Today is Monday 7/23/2007, weight one week out from dieting this morning was 204.6, not my normal off season weight. Usually in the off-season I get close to 220, this time around when talking with Dave, we decided to keep my weight at a steady 200-205, because after discussing that I will be competing in the Nationals in November my goal was just to put on about 1-2 pounds of solid muscle and be in even better shape then I was when I won the Mets and the Jr USA's. My two months off I have still been dieting except I just have been keeping low carbs with meals 1-2, and the last 3 are protein and fats. My goal after the Nationals is to get up to a lean 235-240, and compete in the following year around 198-200 on stage. Ill keep you all posted on my ROAD TO THE NATIONALS...Later

Hello everyone.....

I am just about 17 weeks out from the NPC Nationals... I am preparing myself for my best showing of my bodybuilding career. I am hoping that on that day I will be the best bodybuilder on stage and be rewarded for my efforts and make my dream come true and earn my pro card.

I will start posting my contest prep pics... so stay tuned.
